Editorial Policy

FizzyWay publishes recipes and how-to guides for homemade shower steamers, bath bombs, bath soaks and scent blends. This page explains how posts are put together and what you can expect from them.

Who writes the posts

The recipes and guides are researched and written by the FizzyWay team, and published under Owen Whitfield’s byline. We’re making and photographing the recipes ourselves over time, and we update posts as we do. We don’t claim that every recipe on the site has already been made, timed or photographed in our own kitchen.

How recipes are put together

  • Checked against how the ingredients behave. Every recipe is built on the standard baking soda to citric acid balance, with the binder, essential oil amount and drying time stated. If a recipe breaks from that balance, the post says why.
  • Measurements in cups and grams. US cups first, grams alongside, because a kitchen scale is the more reliable way to get a repeatable batch.
  • Failures get their own posts. Crumbling, cracking and steamers that fizz in the mold are common, so each has a troubleshooting guide rather than a line at the bottom of a recipe.
  • Safety notes stay in. Essential oil amounts, skin contact, kids, pets and septic systems are covered where they matter, even when it makes a post longer.

Images

Some images on FizzyWay are illustrative and AI-assisted, made to show what each stage of a recipe should look like. They’re not photos of a specific batch. We’ll replace them with our own photos over time.

Health claims

FizzyWay doesn’t make medical claims. Posts about scents for sleep, sinuses, energy or headaches describe how a blend smells and how people like to use it, not a treatment. Essential oils can irritate skin and airways; if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are making something for a child, check with a doctor or pharmacist first.

Updates and corrections

Posts are reviewed and updated when a better method, a clearer measurement or a safety point comes up, and as we replace illustrations with our own photos. A change to a recipe’s quantities is noted at the bottom of that post. Found a mistake? Email contact@fizzyway.com.
